Face Up Massage

The Face Up Method

Founded by renowned practitioner Olga Newman, the Face Up method is a revolutionary approach to facial massage that’s quickly gaining international recognition.

Rooted in principles of myofascial release, lymphatic drainage, and mind-body connection, this method is more than just a beauty treatment — it’s a practice of deep care and connection with the self, with lymphatic massage techniques helping to reduce puffiness, support detoxification, and promote a healthy, radiant glow.

At Hana, we’ve always been committed to offering thoughtful, preventative health and wellness experiences that align with the body’s natural rhythms. Face Up Massage is a seamless addition to our offering - providing a powerful, non-invasive alternative to more aggressive cosmetic procedures.

Known for its ability to promote circulation, sculpt the facial contours, support the nervous system, and release deeply held tension, this face sculpting technique is a beautiful reminder that true radiance comes from within

We’re proud to now be offering Face Up Massage as part of our continued dedication to innovative, holistic care - and we can’t wait for you to experience the benefits firsthand.

What are the benefits?

Face Up massage offers a powerful blend of therapeutic benefits that go far beyond the surface of the skin.

By stimulating blood flow, the treatment boosts oxygen and nutrient delivery to skin cells, promoting a healthy, radiant glow.

At the same time, it encourages lymphatic flow, helping to reduce puffiness, clear stagnation, and support the body’s natural detoxification processes.

Through myofascial release and gentle manipulation of the connective tissues, the massage works to free up tension and restrictions within the face, encouraging greater ease and movement.

It also targets deep layers of muscle tension, softening habitual holding patterns that often contribute to facial tightness and ageing.

As the treatment unfolds, it invites a deeper mind-body connection, allowing you to drop into stillness, reconnect with yourself, and support your skin’s health from the inside out.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have a face up massage if I’ve recently had botox or filler?

We recommend waiting 6 weeks after Botox before booking a Face Up Massage to allow the treatment to fully settle. However, if you’d like to come in sooner, we can still proceed—with care. In these cases, we will avoid the area where Botox was administered and gently remind you of the potential effects massage may have on the treatment.

For dermal filler, we advise waiting 6–8 weeks post-treatment before receiving a Face Up Massage. This is to reduce the risk of filler migration, as facial massage can influence how filler integrates and settles in the tissue.

If you’re ever unsure, feel free to reach out to us before booking.

Is face up massage suitable when pregnant?

Yes, Face Up Massage can be a beautiful support during pregnancy, particularly for calming the nervous system and releasing tension.

We generally recommend booking once you’re in your second trimester. Please note that the treatment is performed while lying on your back—however, if you're further along or feeling any discomfort, we’re more than happy to adjust the setup with a side-lying position and supportive pillows to ensure your comfort and safety.

As always, let us know if you have any questions or specific needs ahead of your appointment.

What are the benefits of face up massage?

  • Improves circulation & flow to the face
  • Drains lymphatic fluid
  • Releases muscle tension
  • Reduces puffiness
  • Sculpts the facial contours
  • Softens lines and wrinkles
  • Regulates the nervous system

How often should I have a face up massage?

It depends on what your goals are. For best results, we recommend booking your treatments every 4-6 weeks, with a minimum of 4–6 consecutive sessions back to back. This consistency is key to achieving noticeable, lasting improvements.

What is the buccal massage add on?

Buccal massage is a unique intraoral technique that works inside the cheeks to release deep tension in the jaw, sculpt facial contours, and boost circulation. By accessing the muscles from within the mouth, this add on is especially beneficial for those who hold stress in the jaw or experience TMJ discomfort.

What should I expect during my first session?

Your initial session will begin with a 10-minute consultation, where we’ll explore your areas of concern, daily habits, and any lifestyle or environmental factors that may be contributing to signs of ageing.

Next, your practitioner will offer the option to take a “before” photo to help track your progress over time. You’ll then be introduced to the Face Up product range and guided to select the oil best suited for your treatment.

The Face Up massage itself is then 60-minutes and is designed to help your practitioner become familiar with the unique structure and needs of your face.

To support your ongoing transformation, you may also be given a couple of simple at-home exercises to continue the work between sessions.

Which products do you use for your face up massage sessions?

Each Face Up massage begins with a gentle cleanse using micellar water and the Sans [ceuticals] Goji Cleansing Oil, followed by a warm towel infused with manuka oil to deeply refresh the skin.

You’ll then be invited to choose your preferred oil for the massage from the following options:

Embodyme mood enhancing oil
– A sensorial blend of pure botanicals crafted to support emotional well-being and skin nourishment. Each oil — Joy, Peace, Courage, and Kindness — is designed to evoke a specific energetic state, combining aromatherapeutic benefits with skin-loving hydration. These lightweight oils absorb easily, leaving the skin soft and the mind gently balanced, making them a beautiful ritual for both body and soul.

Sans [ceuticals] Activator 7 Oil
– A multifunctional treatment oil enriched with high-dose vitamin A, essential fatty acids, and potent antioxidants. Originally developed as a reparative body treatment, it’s loved for its ability to deeply hydrate, nourish, and restore the skin without leaving a greasy residue. With its neutral scent and fast-absorbing formula, Activator 7 is ideal for face and body, supporting skin regeneration, improving elasticity, and leaving skin smooth, supple, and radiant.

To close the treatment, we use another warm towel to gently remove any excess oil and apply a few drops of Activist’s Green Botanical Serum to seal in moisture and leave your skin glowing.

Should I have a face up massage before or after my Infrared Sauna/PBM light pod?

We recommend having a face up massage after an infrared sauna so that your muscles are already nice and relaxed. This will warm and loosen up your muscles and enable the therapist to work at a deeper level.

For PBM we recommend having a face up massage before. Our practitioner will end the treatment by cleaning your face and offering the green botanical serum to you to take through to use at the end of your PBM session.
